Nobody is saying the milblogs are "lost". Only that regulations are now in place to keep track of them. People are going way overboard on this, lets see how it works out.

With the loss of the milblogs, a strong component of the right wing of the American blogging is silenced. Once again, the terrorists
aided by the Democrat leaders, Sen Reid, Rep Pelosi, and Rep Murtha and their leftist supporters will have gained an important advantage. We have already seen that there are politicians willing to silence America's voices with laws against freedom of speech. We've already seen military chaplains restricted from praying/fired for praying "in the name of Jesus"

There's an old saying about how the Nazis were able to do what they did in Germany.

"The following version of Martin Niemoller's famous quotation or poem actually comes from the text of an Address he gave to the United States Congress in 1968 and which appears in the Congressional Record, October 14, 1968, page 31636.

"When Hitler attacked the Jews
I was not a Jew, therefore I was not concerned.
And when Hitler attacked the Catholics,
I was not a Catholic, and therefore, I was not concerned.
And when Hitler attacked the unions and the industrialists,
I was not a member of the unions and I was not concerned.
Then Hitler attacked me and the Protestant church --
and there was nobody left to be concerned."

I believe that this is but one of many efforts that will be made before the next election to close down the right wing blogs. Will it suceed by Nov 2008? I have no idea, but IMO the left will keep trying until they succeed.

My gut instinct is that most of the commanders are going to go for the "registration and spot check" approach. The harsher option is left in there for when a unit might be getting read for an operation and a commander might then put the tighter restriction in place.
