It is official.  The FCC now wants to be able to go after Jack Bauer, Gil Grissom, Horatio Caine, and Mac Taylor.  My dislike for this is explained in a post at GOPProgress.com, but I will reiterate a couple of points here.
1. As Don Surber has put it so many times in the past month, change the channel.¬† Nobody forces anyone to listen to Don Imus, Howard Stern, Rosie O’Donnell, NWA, Ice-T, or 2 Live Crew for that matter.
2. Freedom of speech.¬† Again, I suggest you read Don Surber on this point.¬† Any time Rush Limbaugh and Rosie O’Donnell agree, one at lest should take a closer look.¬† Because we don’t really know where it will stop.¬† Who will be the next guy on the hit list of Media Matters or the MRC?¬† Or the PTC, for that matter?
Folks, this could be a big problem.

1In the field of TV/radio, there is no greater vote than the dial. As you said, CHANGE THE CHANNEL.

2Here we go again. The government trying to take on the parent role. If parents were more responsible in controlling what their children watched this wouldn’t be an issue.

3Wow! This could prove to be the death of PC speech. Just think, we censor Imus, Rush, Hannity and every other conservative talk show host (although Imus is far from conservative). Then someone makes an off-colored remark against the Catholic Church. Millions of Catholic Americans demand that the person guilty of the offense be dismissed under the same guildlines as was Imus.
All of this is just preping the patient to get them ready to have the “Fairness Doctrine” inserted. I wonder how CNN will feel when they have to give equal time to conservative thought or to anti-illegal immigrant advocates?
And just who will be assigned the job of being the “fairness” judge? Perhaps it is a committee assignment for someone like Keith Ellison or John Conyers.
