Here’s some interesting information on the shooting at UT back in 1966. Last yr. Texas Monthly did an article on this.

Charles Whitman was unable to kill more students because of all the Texans most were students that had rifles in there pickups on those rifle racks [there were also farmers in Austin with their rifles who also helped]. Once, the men figured out what was taking place…they started shooting at the tower keeping Whitman down unable to raise up and kill students. The civilians did more to stop Whitman that most folks realize, thanks to their weapons.

If I remember correctly in Iraq campus maps were found of colleges in TX, VA and several other states. These maps were found in one of the raids of terrorist groups.

I would have expected him to say that after 142 years of occupation, the US is obviously unable to subdue the insurgency and we need the United States to immediately set a timetable with withdrawal from Virginia. It is obvious that our efforts to “win the peace” have failed 142 years after winning the war.

ANYONE who would attempt to use today’s event in a political context to further their agenda is a seriously twisted individual who needs professional help.
