The circle of hypocrisy is complete:
“NEW YORK - CBS fired Don Imus from his radio program Thursday, the finale to a stunning fall for one of the nation‚Äôs most prominent broadcasters.
Imus initially was given a two-week suspension for calling the Rutgers women’s basketball team “nappy-headed hos” on the air last week, but outrage continued to grow and advertisers bolted from his CBS radio show and its MSNBC simulcast, which was canceled Wednesday.
“There has been much discussion of the effect language like this has on our young people, particularly young women of color trying to make their way in this society,” CBS President and Chief Executive Officer Leslie Moonves said in announcing the decision. “That consideration has weighed most heavily on our minds as we made our decision.”
Imus had a long history of inflammatory remarks. But something struck a raw nerve when he targeted the Rutgers team ‚Äî which includes a class valedictorian, a future lawyer and a musical prodigy ‚Äî after they lost in the NCAA championship game.”
That’s not exactly right.
Query me this. Imus made CBS 15 million a year in revenues, much more in sydication. Additionally Imus in the morning was MSNBC’s flagship show had had been since it’s launch in 1996. Let’s not forget the reason all those famous people wanted to be on his show was for the exposure - the show was that successful and profitable enterprise for all.
So after all those millions and all these years is the “Nappy headed hos” remark is worth that much?
Not a chance. Sure advertisers pulling out (advertisers who don’t mind using black rappers demeaning women in their ads) had something to do with it.
But more and more it looks like the real pressure came from Democrats. Remember, it was a two-week suspension for both CBS and MSNBC before “The Great One - Barak Obama” spoke yesterday. Within minutes NBC pulled the plug on the simulcast.
CBS as of this morning stated they would stand by their original decision.
So what happened?
Again, just let me say that a certain, very powerful senior Senator from New York was none too happy for Imus calling him on his bullshit reference to Walter Reed three weeks ago. As I told you yesterday he complained loudly to NBC brass for his ‘treatment’ during the interview. I have that on good authority.
Again, with NBC wanting the Democrats to run their debates exclusively on their network canning Imus - or bowing to DNC commands - goes a long way to insuring that would be the case.
That Imus was a loaded gun waiting to go off was no secret, and all Chuck had to do was wait for the right moment.
UPDATE: Furthering the hypocrisy of C-BS, on their website they’re running a slideshow called, Celebrity Foot-In-Mouth Disease.
Notably absent from the slideshow is Sharpton himself along with Jessie (hymie town) Jackson.
Tells you all you need to know that Moonves met with the “Justice Brothers” this afternoon.
I guess CBS could be now be called, (C)apitulation to (B)lack thuggery (S)ystem.

1Essentially, our culture has devolved into the serial practice of partisanship without regard for the individual or the pursuit of the truth. We’re not looking to find the truth, we‚Äôre looking to create truth and that is a pivotal distinction. As such, each issue becomes the flagship for opposing interest groups and the epicenter for partisan politics. Those actually involved in this and other incidents (and they are often victims) become nothing more than pawns in an elaborate game of chess…and they are frequently further victimized.
Frankly, we are fast becoming the epitome of a Jerry Springer society. It seems to have become more important to have an audience and notoriety when confronting conflict than it is to attain resolve and mutual respect. That model seems to serve the needs of the exploited and those who seek to exploit; reinforcing all that relegates objectivity to the outhouse while making the frailty and imperfection of the human condition a spectacle that harkens back to the Coliseum.
These situations shouldn’t be about whether liberals or conservatives, this race or that race, hip hop or honky-tonk, one group or another, are more offensive and therefore more responsible for all that is wrong with America. I am not capable of judging the whole of Don Imus nor am I capable of crafting a recipe to fix all of America…and neither are the countless pundits and partisans who have sought to frame it so.
I’m not a religious person…but I often find kinship with the imagery surrounding the portrayal of one called Jesus and his teachings of understanding and forgiveness. For all the banter I hear about the Bible and Christian values, it certainly seems to me that we are fast abandoning what many view as the sacred “tablets” in favor of the sacrosanct tabloids. If I’m right, all I can say is heaven help us.

2And Then They Came for You and Me…
I could not agree more with the following post by Mr. Hutcheson. I discovered Imus while channel surfing in the wee hours of the morning back about six or seven years ago. I had never listened to him on the radio. Sometimes I liked him, sometimes I did…
