Has Pelosi Gone Bonkers?

The damage Speaker Pelosi is causing with her visit to Syria will be felt for many years to come.

“Three top-ranking Republicans in the US House of Representatives met Sunday with Syrian President Bashar Assad and later said they had urged Syria to take efforts to stop the influx of foreign fighters into Iraq.

Representatives Frank Wolf (Republican, Virginia), Joe Pitts (Republican, Pennsylvania) and Robert Aderholt (Republican, Alabama) had arrived in Damascus on Saturday on a two-day visit.

On Sunday they first met Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem and then with Assad in concluding the visit before heading to Jordan.”

If you want to argue that NO Congressmen should make foreign policy visits of this sort, that’s a reasonable argument. Singling out Pelosi’s group (which included a Republican, by the way) while ignoring GOPers who do the exact same thing is hypocritical.

This kind of stuff has gone on for years; remember Hastert’s/DeLay’s “we didn’t see any human rights violations” trip to Burma in 1997, when the Administration was openly discussing economic sanctions against that country’s military junta? Were you up in arms then?

IMHO if it stops at their waters edge we don’t have a chance what with the press being what it is in this country.

If we are to have any chance in 2008 I believe we really need to hold the Republican members of Congress responsible for their actions on every issue. Good luck with your Senators and yes I would email Lamont..the dems need to know we are watching..after all I have Specter and Casey (lol).

After watching Bush and Cheney in the last few days, I wonder if they are getting a deluge of emails and phone calls from us?

Told them that they need to stand by Gonzales and hopefully to the end of their term.

I always send off am email or letter to my Senators and Congressman so they are aware that all of these things are being scrutinized. There are times I follow up with one to the WH just to let the President know there are those of us who do support him and his policies.

I feel if we do not (in numbers obviously) hold Congress’s feet to the fire, they will choose to just conduct “business as usual”. (If you do not feel your elected Senators or Congressperson from your state will be responsive, choose another.) Sometimes they are better at responding than your own.

Wonder if anyone from ME spoke to Ellison? HHHmmm…
