I have solid confirmation that during dismissed US attorney Carol Lam’s tenure – specific with the investigation into Duke Cunningham, that her office fielded several calls of inquiry from the offices of Senator Diane Feinstein and of Senator Barbara Boxer asking for specific progress on the case.

Of course as I said, Democrats can’t help telling on themselves.

This from the leftist McClatchy bunch:

“Fired San Diego U.S. attorney Carol Lam notified the Justice Department that she intended to execute search warrants on a high-ranking CIA official as part of a corruption probe the day before a Justice Department official sent an e-mail that said Lam needed to be fired, U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein said Sunday.

Feinstein, D-Calif., said the timing of the e-mail suggested that Lam’s dismissal may have been connected to the corruption probe.

Justice Department spokesman Brian Roehrkasse denied in an e-mail that there was any link.

“We have stated numerous times that no U.S. attorney was removed to retaliate against or inappropriately interfere with any public corruption investigation or prosecution,” he wrote. “This remains the case and there is no evidence that indicates otherwise.”

But the revelation is sure to heighten demands in Congress for a full investigation into whether something other than job performance was behind the Justice Department’s dismissals late last year of eight U.S. attorneys, including Lam.”

And? So the accusation is a point of fact Ms. Feinstein? Sounds coincidental to me.

Besides are you telling me that the Bush adminisration is really all that weepy about a CIA probe after being porked in the backside (via Valerie Plame) and the rogues of the agency for four years?

Right, and Dick Cheney is dating Cindy Sheehan on the side.

Talk about laying it on thick.

Again, I hope you are flooding the lines at the WH and DOJ. It’s time to put this crap to a stop.

Additionally on the subject, did you know that between 1993 (the Great Clinton Purge) and 2000 the Clinton administration fired or released 30 more US attorneys – some of which were working active investigations against the Clintons?

That’s the word I got and it’s what Rove referred to last week.

I’m gathering the details now.
