Did Valerie Plame commit perjury?

In sworn testimony before the Waxman committee, Valerie (Garbo) Plame testified:

“I‚ÄúI did not recommend him (Joe Wilson), I did not suggest him, I did not have the authority.‚Äù‚Äù

Not exactly correct:

“(1) Was Valerie involved in sending Joe?

“I did not recommend him. I did not suggest him. There was no nepotism involved. I did not have the authority,” she said.

That conflicts with senior officials at the CIA and State Department, who testified during Libby’s trial that Plame recommended Wilson for the trip.

Including a former cohort for whom I referenced before who is still spitting out “Bullshit” even as we play the tapes.

Libby was indicted for less than this.

UPDATE: Reader notes that there were peculiarities in the way Waxman swore in Plame. I wonder why?

    Is it possible Plame may have been part of Clinton’s “Operation Merlin” where he had the CIA hand the Iranians the blueprints for a nuclear triggering device?

    Mac, some questions that keep nagging at me. If Plame was covert, why would she recomment her husband for a trip to Niger that was specifically designed to; a) confirm what the administration thought about Iraq’s quest for yellow cake or, more specifically, b) to debunk what the administration was saying because the evil forces at CIA were not happy with the administration?
    Also, if she was covert, and wanted to maintain her covert status, why was her husband allowed to go public with his op-ed by the CIA? Being Beltway insiders, they both would have known that the storm Wilson’s op-ed was going to create was going to bring attention to her.
    One of two things; either she was not covert and had nothing to fear by being “outed” and this was all planned by the forces at CIA (VIPs?) or Plame is the most damn dumb blond to have ever graced the streets of D.C. and should have never been at CIA to begin with.
    I cannot believe that CIA would be happy with her giving post-partum seminars or trapsing around to all the D.C. parties or listing Brewster-Jennings on her campaign donations. I wonder how many true covert agents list their cover on campaign donations. And why would CIA allow Wilson to list her on the Who’s Who list for D.C.?
    We either have the most incompetent CIA in the history of the agency or this is the biggest scam to come down the pike in a long, long time.
