As the Ann Coulter “outrage” continues, I thought it appropriate to note the striking differences between how the Right and the Left react to these sorts of things.

Today just a glance at Memeorandum shows the outrage of conservative bloggers against Ann - some of it in my opinion overboard (bordering hysterical), but nontheless deserved. But like I wrote previously, you could rightly blame the idiots who scheduled her to speak at CPAC - like they were expecting Mary Poppins?

Yet with all the outrage of the Right, it contrasts starkly with that of the Left whenever a liberal pundit or blogger pulls the same stunt. Take for instance this weeks “comment cleansing” by the Huffington Puffington Post - not a first time occurrence where they removed content deemed offensive AFTER it was discovered.

Who could forget Markos Moulitsas Zuniga of Daily Kos hiding his infamous and thoroughly disgusting “Screw Em” comment referring to slaughtered US contractors back in 2004. He has yet to apologize and even denies he made the statement to this day.

Time and time again whenever a media figure of the left has relased a vile salvo you didn’t see what you saw today - swift condemnation, but instead you witnessed excuses, blaming (as Glenn Greenwald’s psychotic ramblings would have us believe about the lambasting of the Huffington Post Cheney comments).

Fact is that on Friday’s HBO show with Bill Mahr, he expressed sadness that the attack on Vice President Cheney was not succesfull.

Which is makes it almost comical to see the left go off on Coulter because they have been known to use that language over and over again to describe their enemies (by a wide margin), and in fact on many occassions to refer to her as a “Tranny” and worse.

Subsequently you could learn a lot about the left and the right when these things occur. First, there there is stupidity on both sides and people on both sides that say stupid things. however when they do, it’s the Right that rightly condenms the actions of their own, while the left defends the indefensible actions their own.

That point doesn’t get made enough.
