Just got in the door and seen the apparent good news:
“BAGHDAD, Iraq – The leader of al-Qaida in Iraq was wounded and an aide was killed in a clash Thursday with Iraqi forces north of Baghdad, the Interior Ministry spokesman said.
The clash occurred near Balad, a major U.S. base about 50 miles north of the capital, Brig. Gen Abdul-Karim Khalaf said.
Khalaf said al-Qaida in Iraq leader Abu Ayyub al-Masri was wounded and his aide, identified as Abu Abdullah al-Majemaai, was killed.”
Better if al-Zarqawi’s “heir to the throne” had been killed, although we don’t know to the extent he was wounded. However it looks like with this news and Sadr on the run the General Petreus assignment is beginning to bear fruit. Dr. Shackleford was correct, it appears that Al Qaeda is getting it’s proverbial ass handed to them.
Additionally isn’t it just special that the cut and run gang of Reid and Murtha want to talk of defeat, while we celebrate victory. Who side are these guys on anyway?
UPDATE: Looks like a false alarm via Pajama’s Media.
