Bill Richardson tells us exactly why a Democrat as President would be a boon for terrorism, and a danger to America:
“The recent tentative agreement with North Korea over its nuclear program illustrates how diplomacy can work even with the most unsavory of regimes. Unfortunately, it took the Bush administration more than six years to commit to diplomacy. During that needless delay North Korea developed and tested nuclear weapons — weapons its leaders still have not agreed to dismantle. Had we engaged the North Koreans earlier, instead of calling them “evil” and talking about “regime change,” we might have prevented them from going nuclear. We could have, and should have, negotiated a better agreement, and sooner.”
Absolutely clueless, and he would be President.
As anyone with a brain who has examined the so-called agreement with the North Koreans knows it’s a bad deal and in fact just another one of Kim’s extortion moves. Of course Richardson wouldn’t have seen this no more than his former boss Clinton did in ‘94 when the North Koreans suckered them with the so-called Agreed Framework.
Fact is that if Clinton would have done his job in 1999 and confronted North Korea when it became known that they were in fact pursuing uranium via Pakistan there would be no “sabre-rattling” now.
Now Richardson wants to apply this kowtowing to terrorism with the Iranians.
“A better approach would be for the United States to engage directly with the Iranians and to lead a global diplomatic offensive to prevent them from building nuclear weapons. We need tough, direct negotiations, not just with Iran but also with our allies, especially Russia, to get them to support us in presenting Iran with credible carrots and sticks.”
Yeah, Richardson would just lay on a little “John Kerry Co-Dependent Oh Please Don’t Hurt Us” foreign policy to get the Iranians to stop acting up.
No thanks Bill, we got into the danger we face today because of people like you who were in charge yesterday.

1Too Right. It was 8 years of this thinking that got us into this position. Making nice certainly helped prevent 911. Their only success was a lucky break on the Canadian border. But the Dems still think that talking will work, America is all powerful in that department. It is years of pretending that bought us to this day.

2I think that the old adage of “speak softly and carry a big stick” applies here. In my 68 years I have found the I have been quite successful by following this path. You do not engender good relations by being the bully in the school yard. I think that Gov. Richardson has a good track record in this area and is indeed proposing a reasonable plan. History is replete with examples of failed bullies. It is time that the foreign policy of the United States move to a tough position but keep on talking. There many levers that we can use short of armed action. Think about it!

3After dealing with Iran (as a rogue entity) for 26 years, it’s time for the big stick for the situation isn’t ever going to get better with simple diplomacy. Absolutely we should keep on talking, but talk is cheap and meaningless without some sort of severe action.
The “Bullies” comparison doesn’t apply. A bully is a thug who preys on innocents in the school yard. The US isn’t a bully, but the advocate who through the years has kicked the bullies out of the school yard.
