Dollar Bill Jefferson’s new gig – Homeland Security!
Fool us once, but twice?
“Rep. William Jefferson, the Louisiana Democrat who’s facing an ongoing federal corruption probe, is being granted a spot on the Homeland Security Committee, according to Democratic aides.
The appointment will be announced Friday, according to one aide who requested anonymity because the decision isn’t yet official.
Jefferson was removed from his seat on the Ways and Means Committee, one of the most important panels in Congress, by Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) last summer in an attempt to show how seriously Democrats viewed the allegations of corruption.
But the move by Pelosi, who was still minority leader at the time, infuriated members of the Congressional Black Caucus, who said Jefferson shouldn’t be punished unless he is indicted; federal prosecutors have yet to bring an indictment, despite an FBI raid 18 months ago on his home that yielded $90,000 in cash in his freezer.”
Too bad that if true it won’t last. Jefferson’s attorney’s are working double overtime as they stonewall the FBI investigation (more to come on that) and fend off new challenges such as lawsuits. The fact that this hit the wires today wasn’t supposed to get out according to sources, as his appointment was to fly in under the radar because the House “Cut and Run” vote would take place today.

Great writing as usual. You are always a first stop in the morning.
Mac, how come the likes of Rocky, Jefferson, Reid, Mollohan, Feinstein, and several more continue to go undicted when Delay, Cunningham and other republicans are promptly indicted. What gives? Is the DOJ that corrupt they only go after republicans and turn a blind eye to democrats? Is Gonzales even watching his US attorneys? At this point, it does not look like it.
I for one am getting extremely disappointed and pissed at the blatant one sided justice. I realize in the DOJ there is a 2-1 adavantage of liberals to conservatives but are all the morons there playing politics?
I come from a family of law enforcement officers. 49 combined years of experience and have never seen such a blatant disregard of the law from how democrats are allowed their criminal enterprises and republicans are tar and feathered when only accused.
Can you give me one valid reason, why Jefferson has not been indicted by now? This is beyond ridiculous.
Why is Reid not being investigated for his land deals? What about Feinstein?
This has to stop this abuse by the DOJ. Are those idiots aware that many, many of us, half the country see the one-sidedness?
What do the law enforcement professionals at the DOJ that do not play politics think? Are they all gagged and hog-tied to prevent them from doing their jobs?

Back in the Fall, you implied (I believe) that Jefferson was close to falling…..
