Via ABC’s Political Radar:

“ABC News’ Jake Tapper Reports: Though he’s a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., will not be participating in the group’s afternoon meeting with President Bush due to a mix of previously scheduled official Senate and presidential campaign-related meetings.

An Obama aide tells ABC News that the senator has previously discussed matters of importance to the African-American community with the president. Last month Obama was part of a group of Senators who met with the president to discuss the Iraq war, and in 2005, on an Air Force One ride from Springfield, Illinois, to the Washington, DC, area, the two conversed about the crisis in Darfur.

“He’s trying to replace the president, not just meet with him,” an Obama aide says, in explaining the absence.”

This isn’t going to please his “not black enough” critics on the left.
