President Bush is a leader, unlike the lightweight poll watchers who fill our house and senate, and upon seeing the clear evidence of Iranian involvement in Iraq, he’s not taking it lying down:
“President Bush said Wednesday he‚Äôs convinced that the Iranian government is supplying deadly weapons to fighters in Iraq, even if he can‚Äôt prove the orders came from the highest levels in Tehran.
More important, Bush said in his first news conference of the year, is protecting U.S. troops against the lethal new threat. “I’m going to do something about it,” Bush said.
And the president warned of ‚Äúdisastrous consequences‚Äù that would follow in the event of a U.S. military withdrawal.”
Again, I’ll say it until it sinks in, this is President Bush at his best in situations that require decisive leadership. The evidence of Iranian involvement in Iraq is without question and solid. Perhaps the Democrats don’t care about soldiers being shot dead with Iranian made sniper rifles, but then they care little about facts that don’t involve a microphone or photo op.
The President is right on this:
“Meanwhile, Bush shrugged off congressional debate on a resolution opposing his Iraq policy, noting that the measure was nonbinding and mostly symbolic. But he said U.S. troops are counting on lawmakers to provide them the funds they need to win.
Bush spoke as the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives debated a measure opposing his decision to send some 21,500 additional troops to Iraq.
“They have every right to express their opposition and it is a nonbinding resolution,” he said of the House members, who were continuing a marathon Iraq policy debate on Capitol Hill even as he spoke.
Republican allies of the president are battling against the resolution sponsored by Democrats against the war.
“This battle is the most visible part of a global war” against terrorists, countered the House Republican leader, Rep. John Boehner. “If we leave, they will follow us home. It’s that simple.”
So let the Democrats have their BDS sessions while Iran continues to arm insurgents who kill our troops, and while they flap their gums, the President will be taking care of business.
UPDATE: Andy McCarthy has one word for the denial of the clear evidence on the part of the left - “Remarkable”

1Sorry to be off-topic but, is there any way in hell our hapless Justice Department is going to get to this before a civil court does?
…..

The suit alleges that U.S. Rep. William Jefferson, D-La., his wife Andrea G. Jefferson and Vernon Jackson, former chief executive of the telecommunications firm iGate, engaged in an elicit scheme to funnel money to Jefferson, his family and foreign officials. iGate stockholder Daniel C. Cadle of Ohio filed the suit in U.S. District Court in Louisville..

I’ve all but lost hope that anyone is going to do anything. Sigh.
