If you have caught the weather news today you know that the middle of Florida got hammered last night with tornados and strong winds. Lady Lake Florida, where my sister lives and thank God is alright, suffered three fatalities and the numbers from the storm are now at 15 dead. Over 500 homes are damaged or destroyed. At this time over 20,000 are without power.
The storm is slowly making it’s way down the state, but thankfully has lost a lot of it’s punch.
Just shows you that life is brief and fleeting and things that change our lives happen in an instance. Many of these people in the affected counties are still rebuilding after the unbelievable hurricane seasons of 2004 and 2005, so this is the last thing they needed.
Here is where you can contact a Florida Red Cross in the area. Give what you can, nobody does it better and puts more dollars on the ground quicker than the Red Cross.
Fellow bloggers, left and right, forget the differences and spread the word.

1Glad both you and your Sister are okay Mac.
Are there local organizations collecting for the cleanup also?

2Thanks Shm10,
Right now the RC is the best bet, they are already on the ground with supplies as well as FEMA. I’ll see what I can find out but it’s a little hard with communications right now, only cell phones and that is sporatic.
I’ll update as soon as I find out.
