MSNBC breaking:

“WASHINGTON - Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald used his opening statement in the CIA leak trial Tuesday to allege that Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief of staff lied and destroyed a note showing Cheney’s early involvement.

Fitzgerald said Cheney told his chief of staff, “Scooter” Libby, in 2003 that Wilson’s wife worked for the CIA and Libby spread that information to reporters. When that information got out, it triggered a federal investigation.

“But when the FBI and grand jury asked about what the defendant did,” Fitzgerald said, “he made up a story.”

Of course the left - here - are all a twitters, “See! Cheney told Libby, Cheney told Libby!!”

Also here (note the wild headline).

Yeah, and so? There is NO law that says the VP of the United States can’t share that information (classified or otherwise) with his COS. So where is the story here? Note there is nothing of Cheney telling Libby to tell anyone, and even if he did the VP of the United States has the constitutional authority to declase information for whatever purpose he deems fit. So nothing to see here. Remember - I’ll repeat it often enough, the issue of Plame’s status/no status isn’t even in the mix in this trial as Judge Walton has decided it’s irrelevant.

So who told Libby what, or even what he told anyone else in that regard is irrelevant. Libby is on trial - according to the indictment - because he lied about what and who he told. Big difference. Not that the morons on the left would actually know the difference.

Of course when you look at who file the story you can toss it’s truthfulness outright, as well as see why there is all this “gasping” going on.

David Schuster, nuff said.

UPDATE: The insanity begins. This dolt foaming at the lips:

“Holy Moly

by digby

Norah O’Donnell is asking Andy Card and Leon Panetta if the president is going to have to ask Dick Cheney to resign as a result of what’s being alleged at the Libby Trial. (They both punted.)

If that’s the beltway chatter, look for the Republican noise machine to go into high gear. I’ll be expecting to hear rumors of Patrick Fitzgerald’s affinity for bestiality starting tomorrow — mostly from Mary matalin, Dick Cheney’s most vicious attack dog, who will be snarling like a caged beast over this (and thus will show herself an expert on the subject.) “

Again, —doof. There was never any issue that the administration discussed Joe Wilson’s mint tea party trip, but nothing in todays “revelations” shows that Dick Cheney called Tim Russert, or Matt Cooper, David Gregory,or even the guy who really had the first slip of the lip - David Corn.

UPDATE II: Seems Shuster “lied” again, the memo was NOT destoyed. Will Think Progress now issue an apology to Dick Cheney, or will they remain “Deeply Involved” in Shuster’s fabrication?

Right.
