“On Sunday I described some interesting material from the copious Libby pre trial documents which indicated Andrea Mitchell might be called as a defense witness to testify about her handwritten notes of a conversation she had with Libby. I detailed material from the public record as well-comments she and her boss Tim Russert had made publicly about the state of their knowledge in July of 2003 and, in Russert’s case, about what he had reported to the investigators.
It is, as I blogged yesterday, altogether possible that both knew far more about Plame and Wilson and the trip to Niger at the time of the Russert-Libby conversation which, I maintain, is the only real issue in this case.”
As it is. Again, this isn’t about Plame’s no status, which is not even the subject of the trial, but of Fitzgerald’s accusation that Libby lied and thus reporters told the truth.
However, when you study the Russert/Mitchell connections you can’t help but see more to the story. Since the beginning, it’s been about the reporters in the story. Basically, “What did THEY know and when did THEY know it. Remember that up to now the only person sent to jail has been a reporter.
As the story in itself (Plame’s outing), has been essentially a non-story, a greater story has developed. That being how the MSM bascially created a tail that had the whole world singing and then lied to cover their involvement.
