Per John at Stop the ACLU it’s 0-2 for Madam Pelosi as Alcee Hastings has been ‘removed’ from consideration from the Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee:

“Rep. Alcee Hastings, D-Fla., will not be the next chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, a Democratic aide confirmed Tuesday as Hastings left a private meeting with Speaker-designate Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

Still unclear was whether Pelosi intends to surprise lawmakers by tapping the panel‚Äôs ranking Democrat, Rep. Jane Harman of California, to be chairwoman when Democrats take power in January, or go with another lawmaker altogether. Pelosi and Harman have a tense relationship and have disagreed on the Iraq war. Hastings is considered the panel‚Äôs second-ranking Democrat and his candidacy was promoted by the Congressional Black Caucus.”

It’s precisely that disagreement with Harman about the war that has Pelosi at a crossroads. First, the uber left is already hammering Pelosi on her gafts so far, while reminding her that her “responsibility” is to end the war and impeach Bush.

She is not going to be able to do either one. That is simply because the uber left like the Kos kids haven’t figured out that they didn’t elect the new congress - the middle and independents did. Therefore, Pelosi isn’t going to get away with putting an antiwar moonbat in that position no more than she is going to get a crook the position.

She’s in a quagmire.
