Let’s see, we have Harry and the Land Deal….Which he said he was going to talk to the Ethics Committee (until they told him that they would talk to him later….hint, hint, after which he furiously filing corrections. Sorry Harry won’t work. Putting the money back in the bank AFTER you’ve robbed it doesn’t get you out of jail.
Now it’s Harry misusing campaign donations…..Which he’s trying to pay back (Won’t work – see above).
Before it was Harry Abramoff and Harry Connection, over two-dozen contacts with his staffers which in this case Harry refuses to return $68,000 of the dirty money.
How long before you step down from your leadership position Harry? After all in light of all your unethical behavior (whether you try to make it right or not is NOT the issue), you should at least have the decency to do what you have demanded others to do in far less circumstances.
I know he won’t, because like a lot of Democrats Reid is a moral coward. Cowards never take responsibility, they only blame others. Deflect instead of reflect.
Of course Harry’s problem is that he has told lies so many times that by now he is constitutionally incapable of telling the truth. He is rebrobate. Like a rabid criminal he not only breaks the laws he thumbs his nose at those who would call him to account.
Which is why the Ethics Committee will have no choice but to look into his dealings, and additonally I will suspect – after studying the evidence – that the FBI just might want to look into Harry’s connections to organized crime in Nevada.
Harry is a dirty politician of the worst kind. He’s a modern day Richard Daley and he should know that no matter how many things he tries to “amend”, the hounds are coming to call.

2Mac, not only does Reid say he will “amend” his congressional records to reflect his $1.1 million windfall from the sale of land that he did not own, repay his campaign fund for the money he took from it to give Christmas presents to the staff in his high dollar apartment complex, but he also stated yesterday that there were two more “smaller” land deals that he had forgotten to report. What? They were only for $1 million so they were not important?
The Ethics Committee should investigate Reid immediately. Either he is a crook (ha!) or he suffers from the worst memory of anyone in Congress and anyone who can’t remember the laws he has to deal with certainly should not be making laws for the rest of us.
What no one is bringing up is that Reid has to sign those financial statements to Congress just as you and I have to sign our income tax return. I wonder if the IRS would give me a break if I failed to report $1.1 million in earnings and said a few years later I would just file an “amended” tax return.
Reid is as dirty as they come and the bloggers have the power to bring him down. It sure won’t be the MSM as the Reid story is buried on page 16 of the NYTs today and as of Saturday, the LA Times had not mentioned it at all.
Remember Rathergate? Dan Rather is now retired to his Dallas area home, and the President is still in Washington.
POWER TO THE BLOGGERS.

4BTW, speaking of morals, I read somewhere on my blog browsing this morning that the Dems are taking up “the common good” as a campaign issue/theme. Hmmmm…thought it had a familiar ring to it:
“‚ÄòThe common good‚Äò (or ‚Äòthe public interest‚Äò) is an undefined and undefinable concept; there is no such entity as ‚Äòthe tribe‚Äò or ‚Äòthe public‚Äò; the tribe (or the public or society) is only a number of individual men. . . . When ‚Äòthe common good‚Äò of a society is regarded as something apart from and superior to the individual good of its members, it means that the good of some men takes precedence over the good of others, with those others consigned to the status of sacrificial animals.”
– Ayn Rand (“What Is Capitalism? ” 1965)

“We are going to have to take some things away from you for the common good.” — Hillary Clinton

5Which Republicans Have Criticized Reid?…
You will see a history of transactions between Harry and a Don Reid, two of which occur on July 24,1985. It also appears that Reid still owns property with Jay Brown.

6Mac,
Please do not equate Reid with Richard Daley (father or son). Chicago may have and deserve a reputation for fast shuffling, but the old-time pols (and Daley the Younger was raised with Back-of-the-Yards grit and solid values) had lines they didn’t cross.
I doubt if the current mayor has ever said a demeaning word about President Bush, certainly no personal attacks, which would make him one of a handful of dying-breed Democrats.
Reid makes the Daley set look like saints.
