Well, late to the game reference this (cough) report, reporting “excess death” in Iraq since the war started and gives this ridiculous figure or 655,000.
Hey, don’t you love election year reports from left wing think tanks?
Well let’s do the round a bout for reacts:
“This latest Lancet Study released today claims that 555,000 Iraqis have died in the last two years since their last controversial study! That comes to around 770 violent Iraqi deaths each day on average!!!
So, does this mean all of those headlines of 18 or 30 deaths were off by 700 or so?John Hopkins ought to be ashamed!
Anyone familiar with the Iraq Body Count website knows that their estimate of Iraqi deaths – currently 43,850- 48,693 – may not be perfect since it includes bank robbers and heart attack victims but it is one estimate of the deaths from the Iraqi War that is widely used.
Back in 2003 a very controversial study came out claiming 100,000 Iraqis had died in the Iraqi War. This far exceeded the other reports at that time.
Today the liberal group released another one of their outlandish polls just in time for the election.”
“Ms. Whitson‚Äôs take is interesting. There is ‚Äúno reason to question the findings‚Äù of a study using, despite what Mr. Waldman says, questionable methodology 3 weeks before an election. She actually wishes critics would just sit back and shut up because ‚Äì and here she inadvertently debunks the study herself – ‚Äúthere is very, very little reliable data coming out of Iraq.‚Äù”
So in closing, “Liberal hacks throw another fuzz bomb before the election”. Nuff said.
I’m not going to give this hacked up report anymore importance that the paper my parrot craps on .

2Bogus Lone Study Claims Iraq Death Count Much Higher…
This is just getting ridiculous. What’s said is the unbalance in the NY Times article make the AP’s article seem fair, though the fact that it’s pumping the story so heavily and without many comments from contradicting surveys makes their……

4Let’s do the math using Iraqi populace set at 25 million:
pre-invastion rates – 5.5 per 1000 per year = 137,500
post-invastion rates – 13.3 per l000 per year = 332,500
years of post-invastion deaths – 3.5 years
That would mean that at the 13.3 per 1000 rate there would be 1,163,750 deaths at 332,500 per year.
the report also says there were 100,000 deaths in the first 18 months post-invastion. This would round out to 66,666 per year OR about half of the pre-invastion death rate of 137,000.
Seems someone here majored in fuzzy math.

5The Lancet is essentially the Guardian of medical stuff. The editor (Robert Horton) is a big butt buddy of George Galloway. Here he is at LGF making a speech.
