Takaga….I am not so bogged down in it that I will ignore your good point about not hearing Repubs. I agree. But let me point out that all could have been standing and chanting ‘go home tinpots’ and the public might never know.

That would qualify for MSM rule #2, better known as The Silence.

It was MSM sending the Dems’ message that confused the two. Of course the tinpots never dreamed that the voting public was not yet onboard. They were mislead…lied to..manipulated. In other words, they believed the Sheehan myth. So I have no way to truly measure if the Repubs were shouting (I doubt it).

Even if it was insincere, I did not hear ANY Republican “leaders” go to bat in defending the Office of the President as Rangel did. All I heard was the usual pap about what a nasty person Chavez was, instead of taking him on as Rangel did and letting him know, in no uncertain terms, that his message would not be tolerated.

Of course it’s just lip service, but it was shrewd even if insincere. It does serve the larger purpose of warning other third world tin-foil hatters to think twice, then stick a sock in it.

What I find the most problematic about Charlie Rangels’ comments is that Chaves did speak in his District today and used virtually the same rhetoric as was heard yesterday. A real leader or believer in his words spoken would have informed Chavez that no matter what the prior arrangements, he was not welcome on his home turf.

Guess this is why I remain skeptical whenever these opportunists speak.

I watched ole Charlie say this and no, I did not buy it. But I am still glad he was forced to do it.

To get him and Nancy…that must have been some overnight poll. Stuck their finger in the air…..or as I heard Shep say on FOX…..they received over 50,000 opinions in 4 hours. Wow. Sounds like a motivator to me.

This was Charlie that started ‘Bush’s draft’ rumor back before the 2004 election. Also….think how long it takes them to put together a statement anytime Bush says anything. Ten minutes to mike? Bet it almost choked them and they held out as long as politically possible.

OT: The House has been dealing piecemeal with ENFORCEMENT ONLY issues today, with Sennsenbruner (sp?)
masterfully using points of order to keep extraneous Dem amendments out. They are frustrated!
OTOH, the Senate has fiddled while Rome burns–all day quorum calls with terrible classical music. Love to sneak some occasional Bill Haley in!
