Mel an antisemitic? They say when you’re drunk you say the things you really mean. I don’t know. Back in my firewater days I said a lot of things I know I didn’t mean - sometimes I still do.

I’m not a real fan of Mel, but I liked his Passion of the Christ. Yet I’ll need to see more than quite frankly foggy looking pdf’s of a supposed police report (I’ve written a few over the years), that look a little less than authentic. Additionally reports can be “covered up”, but I don’t know a lot of cops who would falsify a report just to make Mel happy. Until I see more than a report - like complete probable cause affidavit - from a internet supermarket tabloid I’m withholding judgment.

Before everyone jumps the gun, I would suggest the same restraint.

Update: Well, I guess that I should have waited (although those are the worst looking reports I’ve ever seen).

Apparently Mel has fessed up:

“After drinking alcohol on Thursday night, I did a number of things that were very wrong and for which I am ashamed. I drove a car when I should not have, and was stopped by the L.A. County sheriff’s. The arresting officer was just doing his job and I feel fortunate that I was apprehended before I caused injury to any other person.

“I acted like a person completely out of control when I was arrested, and said things that I do not believe to be true and which are despicable. I am deeply ashamed of everything I said.

“Also, I take this opportunity to apologize to the deputies involved for my belligerent behavior. They have always been there for me in my community and indeed probably saved me from myself. I disgraced myself and my family with my behavior and for that I am truly sorry.

“I have battled the disease of alcoholism for all of my adult life and profoundly regret my horrific relapse. I apologize for any behavior unbecoming of me in my inebriated state and have already taken necessary steps to ensure my return to health.”

Alright then. Case closed.

Been there bro, can’t and won’t throw stones. We can all go home now and let the man alone.

Just hope you get real from here on out Mel, one to another - one day at a time mate!
