Not all liberals are clueless on issues of National Security. Alan Dershowitz in an op-ed in the Washington Times make the case for the appointment of John Bolton and it’s quite good.

“As a liberal Democrat, I listened carefully to the opposition voiced by many Democratic senators to the nomination of John Bolton as our chief representative to the United Nations. Mr. Bolton has been representing us at the United Nations since August. During the current Middle East crisis, I have been able to listen for myself to what Mr. Bolton has been saying at the United Nations.

On the basis of his performance, I have become a Bolton supporter. He speaks with moral clarity. He is extremely well prepared. He is extraordinarily articulate. He places the best face on American policy, particularly in the Middle East during this crucial time.”

Read the rest. Democrats ought to read it too, although they are so blinded by hate for Bush they literally cannot see the forest for the trees.

Democrats I believe are making critical mistakes towards their goals in 2006 and 2008 by consistently criticizing anything that has the “Bush stamp of approval” simply because they - in their own words - running against him (who is not running) in 2006.

I don’t care what polls are saying, people care about National Security, and except for the over-polled moonbats in a Seattle Starbucks, most American’s really don’t give a flip what the world thinks about us. We didn’t get to the United States of America - the most powerful nation ever to have existed - because we have a guilt-based-people-pleasing complex.

Again, John Bolton - as all good Ambassadors of the past - is there to represent OUR interests in the world. He’s not there to please third world thugs and robbers and especially not to please that crook Annan (who’s past the time of shackles).

Bolton is the right man at precisely the right time, and make no mistake, these are perilous times.
