Slate’s Ed Kaplin calls Bolton’s nomination hearings “Excruciating”. Yet he offers no substance for that diagnosis beyond this drivel:
“Over the years, Bolton has said many things that blatantly disqualify him for the position, but my favorite is this line from 1999:
It’s a big mistake for us to grant any validation to international law, even when it may seem in our short-term interests to do so‚Äîbecause, over the long term, the goal of those who think that international law really means anything are those who want to constrain the United States.
The most basic mission of the United Nations is to enforce international law. It’s therefore absurd on the face of it to appoint, as U.N. ambassador, someone so hostile to the concept of international law.”
Yeah, “International Law”, doing thing the “UN Way” where you rape and plunder and pillage and destroy all under the name of “Keeping the peace”.
As is normal for the left, the arguments against Bolton are laughable. His job as UN Ambassor isn’t to kiss Kofi Annan anti-semitic crooked black ass. It’s to represent the US and OUR interest in the world, and quite frankly he has done a marvelous job at that so far.
Kaplin, if you want excruciating, ask how John Kerry feels today.
